There are many clean and fresh springs bubbling out from the volcanic mountain range surrounding the Park’s catchment area and there are also numerous mineral springs, which are particularly abundant in the western and
southern lakeside areas covering the communities of Gavar and Martuni. Mineral waters from Lichk and Sevan can treat various gastrointestinal diseases. There are also peat fields near the communities of Martuni, Zolakar and Tsovinar. Taking into account the locally available natural medicinal resources such as mineral water, curative mud and peat, there is an important potential to develop spa centres. The mineral water from the Sevan catchment area is rich in carbonic acid; contain boron, chromium, iodine, zinc, and other micro-elements.
