It is located at the eastern part of the national park and stretches from Daranak village to Jill village with 18km length and 1.5-3.8 km width. The sanctuary covers 1807 ha square. The area is fragmented and is presented with 5 pitches with different sizes, the total length of which is 55.0 km.

The objective of the sanctuary is to ensure conservation of natural rare relict woodlands of oak and juniper spread on southwestern slopes of the Sevan mountain range.
