Ichtyfauna of lake Sevan is represented by Salmonidae, Coregonidae and Cyprinidae fish families. Sevan trout (Salmo ishchan Kessler 1877) with its 4 ecological subspecies belongs to Salmonidae fish family: summer bakhtak (S. ishchan aestivalis), winter bakhtak (S. ishchan ishchan), Gegarkuni (S. ishchan gegarkuni) and bojak (S. ishchan danilewski).The representative of Coregonidae family is in the lake Sevan the 1920-1930 accl
Narrow fingered crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactilus) was discovered late 70’s due to accidental import. In the rivers flowing into the lake Sevan we don’t met crayfish, but it is too much in from the lake Sevan originated river Hrazdan.
Narrow-clawed crayfish (Pontastacus leptodactilus) in contrast to other species doesn’t hibernate.
In “Sevan” national park and in its buffer zone there are 43 species of snails and slime mollusks and 639 species of Arthropoda, which belong to insects and 6 of which are endemic to Armenia. Blue butterfly (Maculinea nausithous Bergs) is famous from the buffer zone and is listed in IUCN.
